Parent. Nurse. Neighbor.
My name is Jeremy Jenkins and I’m a Registered Nurse, husband, and dad. I’m running for the Johnston County School Board because I care deeply about the future of our schools and the families they serve.
The Issues
School Safety
Every student should feel safe at school - physically and emotionally. I support continued improvements in safety planning, mental health awareness, and making sure staff have the tools they need to protect and support students.
Responsible Budgeting
Families rely on strong communication and consistency in special education services. I support improving transparency, strengthening support systems, and ensuring students with IEPs receive the resources they need to succeed.
Special Education
Our schools must use resources wisely. I support transparent budgeting and making sure funding is directed where it has the greatest impact on students and classrooms.
Who and Why?
-
I’ve worked as a registered nurse at Duke University Hospital since 2018, where I spend my days helping patients and families through some of their hardest moments. My wife grew up here in Johnston County, and in 2025 we decided this was where we wanted to raise our daughter and put down roots. Like a lot of parents, once our child reached school age, the future of our local schools became personal to me.

As a parent and healthcare professional, I see how much families rely on strong schools. Parents want safe environments, teachers want support, and students deserve systems that work for them.
I believe that school board decisions should be practical, transparent, and centered on students. I want to listen to parents, teachers, and staff, and help make thoughtful decisions that strengthen our schools for the long term.
Like many parents, once our child reached school age, education became personal. I’m running to help ensure Johnston County schools remain safe, well-managed, and focused on helping every student succeed.
